{"id":36,"date":"2008-07-07T12:41:23","date_gmt":"2008-07-07T19:41:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/melanarrative.com\/?p=36"},"modified":"2008-07-07T12:41:23","modified_gmt":"2008-07-07T19:41:23","slug":"naturopath-20-goals-and-strategies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/melanarrative.com\/?p=36","title":{"rendered":"Naturopath 2.0: goals and strategies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>i got enough sleep before the meeting with the naturopath.<\/p>\n<p>basically it was kind of like therapy.\u00c2\u00a0 except from a cancer survivor.\u00c2\u00a0 whose whole deal is finding ways to win the mental war and compensate for the nastiness of the physical war in the body.<\/p>\n<p>he gave me B-12 vitamins.\u00c2\u00a0 b\/c I don&#8217;t eat meat, which is mostly true.\u00c2\u00a0 (did you know that pescatarian was added to the dictionary today? So was Fanboy!!! &#8212; http:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2008\/US\/07\/07\/new.dictionary.words.ap\/index.html)\u00c2\u00a0 and it will also help my liver function<\/p>\n<p>and we talked a lot about goals and how i need to overcome this mentally.\u00c2\u00a0 it was a lot of information all at once. and it was just the same information as the last time, but more specific.\u00c2\u00a0 lets see if i can remember:<\/p>\n<p>1. I personally have to take on the mental battle.\u00c2\u00a0 The drs are doing the chemical stuff, but I have to win the mental battle.<\/p>\n<p>2. I need to set goals.\u00c2\u00a0 Part of the problem is that I am just reacting right now.\u00c2\u00a0 Reactionary.\u00c2\u00a0 I feel bad, I feel good.\u00c2\u00a0 I need to set short term and long term goals.\u00c2\u00a0 So I have something to aim for.\u00c2\u00a0 My long term goal is full quality of life during the 11 month treatment period.\u00c2\u00a0 My short term goal is to make it through the next week feeling good, with more energy, and more calmness.\u00c2\u00a0 And to have liver enzyme counts that allow me to finish up the drugs.<\/p>\n<p>To accomplish the next week&#8217;s goal he told me I need to eat more (whatever I can eat, whenever I can eat), continue to exercise, take my B-12, and I forget the rest.\u00c2\u00a0 Oh, meditation.\u00c2\u00a0 Meditation.<\/p>\n<p>I said to him that meditation seemed to work, but I didn&#8217;t understand why.
