{"id":49,"date":"2008-07-17T23:03:25","date_gmt":"2008-07-18T06:03:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/melanarrative.com\/?p=49"},"modified":"2008-07-17T23:03:54","modified_gmt":"2008-07-18T06:03:54","slug":"day-19-are-we-there-yet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/melanarrative.com\/?p=49","title":{"rendered":"Day 19: Are we there yet?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Almost done.\u00c2\u00a0 Almost done.\u00c2\u00a0 Almost done.<\/p>\n<p>Today was the penultimate day.\u00c2\u00a0 I should have geeked out yesterday and called it the antepenultimate day.\u00c2\u00a0 Oh, this is what my English Literature degree comes to.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, the antepenultimate day, I overheard one of the nurses arranging for hospice care for a patient with pancreatic cancer.\u00c2\u00a0 She used the word &#8220;nonresectable&#8221; which I think means it is inoperable.\u00c2\u00a0 My grandmother died from pancreatic cancer.\u00c2\u00a0 Hearing the word &#8220;hospice&#8221; was scary, but also reminded me how well I am doing.\u00c2\u00a0 How healthy I feel.\u00c2\u00a0 How far I am from giving in and going under.<\/p>\n<p>Today I gave all the nurses cookies (that my brother made) and the URL to this blog.\u00c2\u00a0 I gave it to my massage\/healer person too.\u00c2\u00a0 While it was happening, I wanted it to be private from them, but now that I am leaving, I want them to see it.\u00c2\u00a0 Ah&#8230; control.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m starting to feel like I&#8217;m already transitioning back to NYC.\u00c2\u00a0 I made a haircut appointment (my hair is wildly out of control.)\u00c2\u00a0 And I made an appointment with my NYC oncologist so I can learn how to do the self injection pen.<\/p>\n<p>Wait, did you catch that&#8230; <em>my NYC oncologist<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m so bi-coastal I have two oncologists&#8230;\u00c2\u00a0 LOL.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Almost done.\u00c2\u00a0 Almost done.\u00c2\u00a0 Almost done.
